Restaurant
In the restaurants, prices listed on their menu do not include the tips. In USA, restaurants put only net prices, without taxes and tips.

You should leave a tip, major income of waiter/waitresses. This tip evaluates between 15 and 20 % of your total bill. If you pay by credit card, just write the amount of the tip you would like to give inside the box on your bill.

Do not forget the tip. If you do not put the amount, the cashier would fill this box by him/herself according to the applicable tariffs.

It is to you to do the calculation. A simple system : tip = tax times 2.

To know : French do not have a great reputation of generosity when paying bills and they're called "stingy". Say your thank-yous by giving a convenient tip, mostly when the service has been quick and nice.

Not to forget also, when you divide the bill between your friends so that everyone pays their part, count the tax and the tip with the bill, to know the exact number that everyone should pay.

ATTENTION : Many restaurants apply directly the gratuity (or better called charged services) of 15 to 20% for groups of 8 persons (sometimes 6) or more. In this case, you do not have to give extra tips.

Yet, you should verify correctly if the tip has been included or not in the bill. It is always precised on the note.

In the other hand, for fast foods and self service restaurants, there is no tip needed.

In a bar
Generally, people leave a dollar per drink.

Taxis
Generally, the tip is between 20 - 30 % of the taxi price.

Valet Parking
You need to give one or two dollars to the valet in charge.

Beauty Salon
The tip is 15 % of the service price. You need to give one or two dollars to the person that washes your hair.

Hotel Porters
Porters generally receive one dollar for the first bagage, and 50 cents for every other one.

Delivery Man
Men who deliver pizzas, fast foods, etc receive generally one or two dollars.
